I often say that my life as a disciple in the campus ministry can be marked by remembering which ICMC I went to that year. I am a Southeastern US native so I am truly excited to attend my first ICMC US West this year in Estes Park from July 28-31, 2011! I always find the ICMC to be an amazing time to connect to other campus students from all over the US or from my region who are really fighting to go higher in their relationship with God and looking for new ways to glorify Him in their lives. My first ICMC was in Boston in 2007. The leaders of my ministry believed in my ability to lead and asked me attend as a part of our leadership team in Charlotte, NC. Little did I know, this conference would change my life! It would call me to make harder decisions than ever before, to sacrifice things I had never been willing to part with and to learn about a life filled to the brim with a joy and a confidence that only God can bring! After my Boston experience I couldn’t wait for the ICMC in Baton Rouge in 2008 and only hoped that the ICMC would again have a great impact on my life!
I went into the ICMC in 2008 longing for direction in my walk with God and He definitely paved my way. I learned about the mission team and the church being planted in Clemson, SC and in the van ride home decided that I wanted to see how God could use my life over the next two years on a mission team. I moved to Clemson with the team in January 2009 and attended the next ICMC with a strong group of disciples that I had watched God pull together over the first 7 months of the mission team. God has worked in incredible ways — thanks to the connections I’ve made with people I’ve met, with lessons I’ve heard, and with the scriptures I’ve read at the ICMC over the years. There are always many more stories that can be told about the ICMC in Virginia and Chicago and more than anything I can’t wait to see what God will reveal through the connections we will all make in Estes Park at the ICMC US West 2011!
